Our great experiment begins with a book, a humble 5-gallon carboy, and the desire to make excellent California wine. And an American dream.

With a combined life experience of over half a century in law enforcement working in California's most dangerous prisons, we weren’t an obvious pair to start a winery. But we had a vinous passion. So, we embarked on a journey that intertwined the art of winemaking with our unique backgrounds, and explored countless vineyards of California, one sip at a time. And thus, Solitary Cellars Wine Company was born in 2010 -- a testament to our unwavering commitment to create an experience that's as memorable as it is delicious.

Our mission -- and we chose to accept it -- was to craft wines that are as bold and unforgettable as our adventures behind bars.

First, and foremost, is the wine. We’re dedicated to the art of winemaking and the use of grapes’ natural flavors, tannins and color found in world-famous California fruit. Given our location in the picturesque town of Friant, California, we have convenient access to a bounty of unique grape varietals from renowned wine regions like Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and beyond. Our commitment to quality is unwavering, from hand-selecting the finest fruit to nurturing each bottle with care and passion.

But at Solitary Cellars, it's not just about the wine—it's about the stories shared, the laughter echoing through the vineyards, and the bonds forged over a glass or two. We consider our customers friends and partners. In corrections facilities, your partner is the one person you can count on -- the one who has your back.
