The Overnight Guest

   The Overnight Guest is a psychological thriller by Heather Gudenkauf about true-crime writer Wylie Lark, who becomes trapped in a remote Iowa farmhouse during a blizzard while finishing a book about a brutal crime that occurred there two decades earlier. While snowed in, she discovers a nearly frozen child outside her door, prompting her to unravel a mystery that connects to the past crime, the child's identity, and her own secrets. The novel is told through three interconnected timelines: Wylie's present-day experience, the 2000 murder case, and the story of a mother and child held captive in a basement.
